The Metro Bus Service in the City of Lahore and the London Underground

When I came back to country in year 2008-09 I heard that in our City of Lahore, the provincial Govt. has drawn a plan to start a tram Service. I started to dreaming the whole travelling experience and the fun we could have by such service to commute around the city. The project was planned from the one corner to the busiest and historical old city of Lahore. The old city is the a famous food and fun point for the citizens and travellers. So every thing started to buzzing in mind, the treats with friends and family, the ride alone in the evening without being stuck in the busy evenings. Whole idea started to evolving in the brain cells. Much of the stuff I missed back in London now could be in reach. When I heard at first I was so excited coz I was use to travel in London Underground but later on when the news of delaying the project has taken away all the excitement.

After three years the Local govt again came up to built the dedicated transit Lane on and above the route for the Metro Bus Service with the help of Turkish Partners. In the Start of year 2013 the service is Finlay up and running not only this the Provincial Govt. announced a free travelling in the first month. The state of art route with luxurious bus stands, comfortable and smooth Train Buses and the rural community of out skirts of the City of Lahore. Now this is something like "One way ticket to the moon" But Free. So the people started to crowding the innocent bus service. When you read this you must keep this in your mind that Pakistan is basically a beautiful country with extraordinary hardworking Free minded but less qualified populated Country  mainly based on Agricultural. The people who are used to ride and travel on Tractors, Trollers and over crowded buses or some of them love to ride high speed bikes on the natural mud tracks of rural areas. And guess what now they have this Metro Bus Service with Luxury interior, escalators and Lifts for Special and Senior Citizens.

Do you Feel it ! the comparison is worth of its while to watch and experience. So the other appreciating class who bit qualified and educated in the city did seen it all. Imagine when a group of kids small kids who had never seen the Lifts going up and coming down. Who were properly wearing nice clothes with the heavy make up and colourful dressed Mums along with simple Looking husbands wearing the Turbans and White Kurta Shelwars the traditional dress of Pakistan, Those kids were big time excited and they thought the Lift and escalator is their Fun Ride. They do not want to go on free ride of bus but they want to just keep going up and coming down with the Lifts and escalators inside the Bus Stands !!

This was just one scene of the whole movie the rest I leave on your imagination. I must share another fact with you that the ruling party in the Federal is Different then the ruling Party of the Province of Punjab where the City of Lahore is situated. So in very planned jealousy and out of grudge the area where supporters of the Central Govt. were residing what they did was even worst. instead sharing the joy and fun of having such nice service and huge project been made for the ease of people they actually in the late evening started to torn off the bus stop and the buses interior as if all was for them to ruin. They did not care for a moment that all that money invested in this project was of their own pocket before they get into that mess, not even once this thought struck them and stop them. Luckily the Metro Bus has its dedicated security so they managed to stop and arrest those idiots and rescued the Bus to be torn into parts.

Consequently the Chief Minister have to withdrawn the offer of free travailing the first week of the service which was three weeks earlier than their announcement. I remember the riots of London when there was high risen University Fees issue broke and Students and other thousands have really messed up the central London. Though the both incident look different on their scale but same in their expression. Its all about staying peaceful at the end and right of protest while staying in the limits and civilised. Two Wrongs can not make one Right.

If you been to London and you travel in the city of Lahore, there are many similarities one can find in the environment, streets, their structure and over all life more or less is identically same but just apposite in the ethnicity and civilisation. London is like 2nd home to me and I borne in Lahore, so I have this feeling, personally its my thought. My cousin in Brooklyn and Queens NY  also think the same about NY and LHE(Lahore).
